Still, little is known about North Korea and even less about the DPRK’s film industry. But contrary to what many people might believe, it has held a prominent position in North Korean propaganda starting with Kim Jong-il in the 1970s.
The conference aims at presenting the political background and introducing reoccurring themes illustrated by excerpts from original North Korean movies.
